Principal’s Message

A man with graying hair smiles directly at the camera.

Welcome to another exciting year at Tumalo Community School! I am honored to serve as your principal and to be part of a school community that values connection, growth, and a love of learning. Tumalo is a special place where students are known, supported, and encouraged to take risks in their learning. Our staff is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every student can thrive.

This year, our focus will continue to be on building strong relationships and supporting the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. We believe that students learn best when they feel connected and supported by caring adults and peers. You will see this reflected in our classrooms, hallways, and school events as we emphasize kindness, responsibility, and respect for one another.

We also know that attendance matters. Being at school every day, on time and ready to learn, helps students build routines, stay connected to their learning, and experience success. If your child is absent, please communicate with the office so we can support your family and help your student stay on track.

I encourage you to stay involved and connected to Tumalo Community School. Attend events, volunteer, and reach out to your student’s teacher when you have questions or need support. Together, we can ensure that every student feels valued and is able to reach their fullest potential.

Thank you for your continued partnership. I am looking forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and community pride.

Warmly,
Sam Platt
